What is a Miracle? Synchronicity? Serendipity? Coincidence?

Would you know it if you saw it, felt it, heard it, touched it?

Do you expect angels to fly down and grant you your wish? Answer your prayers? Solve your problems? Save you?

There is a great parable that I heard many years ago that has stayed with me for quite some time. Maybe you heard of it?

The Drowning Man

A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.

Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, “Jump in, I can save you.”

The stranded fellow shouted back, “No, it’s OK, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me.”

So the rowboat went on.

Then a motorboat came by. “The fellow in the motorboat shouted, “Jump in, I can save you.”

To this the stranded man said, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”

So the motorboat went on.

Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, “Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety.”

To this the stranded man again replied, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”

So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.

Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, “I had faith in you but you didn’t save me, you let me drown. I don’t understand why!”

To this God replied, “I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?”

Everyday Miracles

We are surrounded by miracles, every moment, every instant, every second. But, these miracles may not be what you consider to be miracles.

Do you consider it to be a miracle to be alive? To spontaneously heal a wound? To digest food? To automatically breath? To beat your heart?

Do you wake up grateful for the opportunity to live another day? Do you revel in the ordinary; a bee buzzing, a tree swaying, a friendly smile and wave, sunlight, fresh food, warm bed?

The ordinary reveals the extraordinary if you only have eyes to see it.

But as you know, belief dictates percepetion, and you will miss all the miraculous if you, like the drowning man, expect some grandiose act.

Synchronicities or meaningful coincidences happen all the time. Little miracles are everywhere

There is only one thing you need to do!

You’ll have to let go of your so called “problems”, the need to be “saved”, and the thought that happiness exists somewhere in the non-existent future because if you allow these things to dominate your mind then you’ll miss the obvious.

What do I consider a miracle? Hmmmm,…find out in today’s video!

And for those of you that are up for it, there is a homework assignment too!
