Human Conscious Evolution In A Nutshell

Everyone is talking about being more aware or mindful these days but what does that really mean? Did you know that being aware does not mean paying greater attention? Attention has to do with concentrated focus on an object or activity. Awareness on the other hand is directly correlated to how consciously evolved you are.

Consciousness lies on a continuous spectrum and many scientists, philosophers and mystics have attempted to map human conscious evolution using various models. For example, Transpersonal Psychologist Abraham Maslow created the now famous Hierarchy of Needs which very simply illustrates how human beings must first have their physiological needs met before finally reaching what he expressed as human self-actualization.

Different Models For Human Conscious Evolution

Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

David Hawkin’s Level’s of Consciousness

Another interesting model by which to express human conscious evolution would be the lesser known Dr. David R Hawkin’s Level’s of Consciousness. David was a psychiatrist who had a clinical practice in NY for many decades before turning into a popular spiritual teacher in Sedona, AZ. He is the author of many books including the most well known, Power vs. Force – The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior.

Dr. Hawkin’s has created a logarithmic model for human conscious evolution using an emotional scale and view of life. He describes in detail how an individual can hope to move beyond negative emotional states of shame, guilt and apathy to more positive states of love, joy and peace.

The basis of his work is to draw awareness to the fact that humans can move beyond their current state of conscious evolution through concentrated effort and a willingness to let go of beliefs that no longer serve them. The scale starts with the consciousness level of shame which Hawkins gives a frequency of 20 and ends with the consciousness level of enlightenment where Hawkins attributes a numerical range of 700-1000.

Yogic Chakra System

Another very popular model for human conscious evolution is the ancient yogic science chakra system most referred to in ayurvedic, acupuncture, Chinese, Japanese or Tibetan energy medicine. This system refers to the subtle energy centers located within and around the human subtle body and serve as the energy regulators for human conscious awareness. Chakras are located all throughout the subtle body but the most powerful centers are located along the spinal column and start with the muladhara and extend to the sahasrara. This very complex energy system also serves as a model for human conscious evolution as the energy starting from the root chakra also known as the muladhara, deals mainly with physical survival and preservation of the species. An individual whose energy is focused on the higher chakras of the ajna or sahasrara interact with life from a more integrated place of wholeness, have a keen sense of perception and clarity and are no longer subject to limited belief systems or subconscious programming.

Evolving Past Victim Personality and Moving Towards Creator Being

All of these models of human evolution parallel each other with regard to progressive states of self-awareness. When an individual is only mildy self-aware they are primarily concerned with survival and self preservation. Individual’s occupying this energy level feel a strong sense of separation from everyone and everything, see the world as black and white, and feel as if life happens to them. Many individual’s unconsciously adopt a victim-like personality due to the lack of foresight for creating better life situations for themselves. Additionally, these people lack the fundamental understanding that their thoughts, emotions and actions create their reality.

However, as individuals correlate their thoughts and emotions to outside circumstances they are better able to manage their day to day lives with some level of consistency. The next phase would then be to understand the energy dynamics of human relationships and how our sense of self evolves through the mirroring of other’s behavior.

Many individual’s are locked into a constant power play of relationship dynamics and can stay there for a lifetime without maturing past this maturation phase. It’s hallmark is the preoccupation with other people’s thoughts, opinions and feelings and the tug of war that ensues when an individual simultaneously wants to be accepted by a person or group but also wants to be free from imposed expectations and belief systems.

Humanity is under great pressure to evolve because it is our only chance of survival as a race. This will affect every aspect of your life and close relationships in particular. Never before have relationships been as problematic and conflict-ridden as they are now. As you may have noticed, they are not here to make you happy or fulfilled. If you continue to pursue the goal of salvation through a relationship, you will be disillusioned again and again. But if you accept that the relationship is here to make you conscious instead of happy, then the relationship will offer you salvation, and you will be aligning yourself with the higher consciousness that wants to be born into this world. For those who hold on to the old patterns, there will be increasing pain, violence, confusion, and madness. – Eckhart Tolle, The Power Of Now

More mature individual’s recognize the need to be involved in relationships but not overly entangled in other people’s affairs. They have the ability to disengage before any emotional power plays begin. The ability to do this comes from a place of deep understanding that one is not defined by another and expectations for seeking happiness outside of oneself is the cause for all suffering.

This process of conscious evolution towards a more integrated and whole Self is the journey of all of humanity. Progressive states of higher consciousness are held by individual’s interested in going beyond the limitations of the body and mind and being in union with existence; the true definition of yoga. It is everyone’s destiny to evolve to the highest pinnacle of human evolution. The only question is, how can one go about quickening the process?

If You Want Happiness – You Must Take Responsibility

Everyone seeks happiness and wants to be happy, the limitation is simply the assumption that external things, people, places, or experiences bring on the feeling of happiness. This premise is false as happiness is actually a quality of consciousness that is innate to all human beings and is brought about when more conscious awareness is evident in a given individual. As one acquires more power and evolves consciously this sense of innate happiness, joy, contentment and bliss is an every moment reality. Thus we come full circle to our initial discussion of cultivating greater awareness and mindfulness in our daily lives because people have been told that this is the only way to maintain lasting happiness.

Humanity is at a very interesting stage where we are actively seeking solutions to the issues and problems that we have created. There is greater awareness to our environment, we are taking better care of our physical bodies and we feel drawn to mentors, guides, teachers and spiritual life coaches who have walked the path before us and can extend a helpful hand to assist in our conscious growth.

So what can we do to quicken our conscious evolution so that we may feel unlimited freedom, happiness, and joy? The most important thing that anyone can do is to start where they are and accept responsibility for everything in their life. After we accept our reality as it is without running from it, evading it, denying it, justifying it, excusing it, or ignoring it we must be willing to do the work necessary to grow. Growth means change and change often times means feeling uncomfortable in new surroundings.

“I want to change you” – that is not a revolution. “I’m willing to change” – now this is a revolution. – Sadhguru

Change can take many forms and includes all dimensions of being human including: physical, mental, emotional and energetic.

How To Be Happy – Physical, Mental, Emotional and Energetic Dimensions

Humans have two dimensions that we are consciously aware of; the physical and the mental/emotional. Some individual’s have a heightened sensitivity to the energetic dimension of prana, ki, chi, shakti, etc either through consistent spiritual practice or due to previous karmic implications.

With regard to the physical dimension, individual’s can certainly put more awareness to their diet as this has a direct effect on resulting hormones, moods, and mental clarity in everyday life. Eating more raw natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes while limiting the intake of sugar, refined carbohydrates, alcohol, caffeine and chemical preservatives are all straightforward ways to give ourselves a natural energy boost and feel better both in body and mind.

Additionally, regular and consistent exercise that includes both cardio exertion for our heart health as well as weight training to maintain bone density and muscle strength is also necessary to keep our bodies fit as we navigate through life and get older. Other ways to enhance our energy levels and resulting mood everyday: drink purified water, get direct sunlight, breath fresh air and receive enough rest so we are not always running with a sense of energy depletion.

On the mental and emotional dimension we can limit our exposure to negative news, superfluous celebrity gossip, sensationalized politics, or time wasting behavior on social media outlets. Our ‘mental diet’ and what we choose to let enter our consciousness on a daily basis is just as important as having a healthy food diet. If we are bombarded with negative stressors on a daily basis our bodies are constantly running on a fight, flight or freeze response with high cortizone levels that toxify our blood and organs. If left unchecked this way of living manifests in lowered overall immunity which can create autoimmune diseases, hormonal disruptions, an overly sensitive neurological system and leave the body susceptible to pathogens such as viruses and bacterial infections.

We must also take responsibility for the environment that we live in and the people that we surround ourselves with. if left unchecked, negative energies from unhappy and unhealthy people can profoundly affect our well being and build up overtime to create physical dis-ease and mental imbalances.

Finally, we also must take responsibility for our energy state. This more elusive dimension can be accessed through meditation, contemplation, concentration, and psychosomatic methods such as massage, reflexology, acupuncture, eft, emdr, chanting, hatha yoga, kinesiology, homeopathy, bach flower remedies, and many more.

Meditation is the best way to cultivate a greater sense of peace and joy in life while also assisting in the conscious evolution of the individual. As one meditates and accesses higher and finer levels of consciousness the individual lets go of old negative programming, resolves subconscious fears and anxieties, forgives old traumas and emotional wounds, can sustain more powerful vibratory energy pulsating though the body/mind and allows one to perceive from a much higher perspective of freedom and natural bliss.

In this way we take control of our conscious evolution through the four dimensions available to us. We no longer have to be the victims of outside influences and situations and see ourselves as separate and alone. As we mature and progress we know we are a small part of the greater whole of humanity and existence itself and help boost others through our higher frequency. The kindness, love, forgiveness and compassion we offer ourselves is also automatically offered to others as we go about our daily lives.

We change the world not by what we say or do, but as a consequence of what we have become. – David R. Hawkins

In what ways have you taken control of your life to evolve to a higher and finer level of consciousness? What results have you seen in your life and what effect have you had on others?

How To Control Your Emotions

We all know what it feels like to watch something on the news and instantly feel anxious, especially now. We feel that familiar spike in our heart rate, our palms get sweaty and our pupils dilate.

But we also know what it feels like to share love, kindness and compassion with another person. Do you ever notice how exhausted you feel after an angry outburst, but how energized you feel after showing love to another?

Emotions are vital energy currency. Each emotion either depletes our energy or vitalizes it. If someone indulges in negative emotions frequently, then they will look and feel exhausted. Therefore, it is important to really understand what thoughts and emotions are and how we can learn to consciously manage ourselves so we optimize our energy and navigate our day in the most efficient way possible.

In today’s video I offer some fascinating insight into how thoughts affect not only ourselves, but also our environment and how we can take responsibility for our emotions and learn how and when to spend our daily ‘spiritual dollars’ in a productive way. It’s all about education and then execution. So, let’s get into it!

You’ll discover:

– How thoughts are ‘things’…
– Evidence of how our thoughts affect water, plants, animals and small children…
– Why controlling our emotions is necessary for our physical and mental health…
– How our bodies chemically react to each and every thought and emotion we have…
– How to consciously choose what thoughts you want to energize…
– The most effective method to distance yourself from your thoughts and emotions in order to be more cool, calm and collected…

Magical Power Places – Sedona, Arizona

What Are Magical Power Places?

You may have heard of places like Machu Picchu (Peru), Glastonbury (England), Mount Shasta (California), Bali (Indonesia), Varanasi (India), Uluru (Australia), and many many more.

These places are considered sacred, spiritual, and powerful. Many people are actually drawn to these sites unconsciously thinking they are going because of the history, culture or natural beauty.

No matter how one comes to discover these magical power places, one cannot deny the mystical, magical and mysterious nature that these destinations naturally exude.

Travel is wonderful for the soul because it opens you up to different ways of life, new scenery, and offers possibilities and opportunities to perceive life differently.

When you visit a magical power place your opportunity to grow and evolve is accelerated because the energy is more concentrated and uplifting.

For those that are interested in spiritual evolution and conscious expansion, visiting a magical power place is an absolute must.

First, the space itself is charged and helps one to be more sensitive and attuned to higher frequencies. This is nature’s way of giving you a natural ‘boost’ to your energy system and allows you to imbibe and take in the different energies much easier.

Second, there have been many people and cultures that have recognized the land/space as being high energy frequency and have maintained the sacredness of the land through rituals and traditions. These sights of worship, ceremonies, and meditation have all added to the energy frequency making it very potent for us to ride the wave of previous energy work.

Third, a magical power place always give you what you need at the perfect time and place for you. This means that chance encounters with certain plants, animals, or people are very purposeful and important to your spiritual growth and evolution. Repeated signs, coincidences, and unique inner experiences often magically find their way into your consciousness, inviting you to explore and discover at a deeper level.

Magical power places are an invitation to learn more about yourself, nature, energy, and existence. They are a gift to us, when we are ready, to follow our calling and absorb the energy of the sacred land, sea, and sky.

The Twinkling Wonder of Sedona – Bell Rock’s Masculine Vibe

Bell Rock, Sedona AZ

I’ve been wanting to visit Sedona, Arizona for many years. My opportunity came this past week when my husband and I ventured into the gorgeous Red Rock country for our first glimpse of Sedona’s magic.

Our first stop was Bell Rock. As we made our way up the trail we paused to contemplate which way to trek. Looking to my left I felt this path would offer less traffic and a greater opportunity for silence.

The surrounding scenery was breathtaking and the hike was relatively easy. We had a great time winding our way up the rock going higher and higher.

After some time we found a little area that had a shady rock overhang and a small flat surface. We brushed away the loose stones, took off our hiking boots and socks, and settled into a nice meditation together.

Meditating in a power place amplifies your natural frequency. Tuning into Bell Rock’s energy was immediate, intense, and felt like it had a purpose. Many have described Bell Rock as being ‘masculine’ in nature which means to say that it is outward focused, sharp and powerful. If you are looking for solutions, answers, creative insight or just seeking a way forward, then meditating on Bell Rock will offer you all this and more.

After our meditation we continued winding our way up Bell Rock. To my left I noticed a particularly curious tree. It was as much peculiar as it was magical. I felt drawn to its irresistible energy and quickly sat underneath its twisted shaded branches.

The connection was immediate. The tree vibrated a sparkling tingly quality of effervescent energy. It was like the tree was giggling or laughing. Sitting beneath her branches it was easy to imbibe her natural bliss.

There are so many little nooks and crannies that one can escape to on Bell Rock. It was as if each stone, tree, insect and bird held an ancient secret tucked deep within themselves that held the promise of revelation only if you took the time to sit and listen.

Magic was certainly in the air and the twinkling wonder of Sedona’s captivating red rock had us enthralled.

Not bad for our first introduction to mystical Sedona!

(The laughing tree! Notice how the limbs of many trees are twisted due to the intense energy vortex found on these rock formations.)

Cathedral Rock – A Call Back To Mother Nature’s Womb

Cathedral Rock, Sedona, AZ

The next day I felt a very distinct call to hike up Cathedral Rock another one of Sedona’s very famous rock formations. This time we set off early and were on the hiking trails by 7am.

We made our way to the top which had breathtaking views and gorgeous natural scenery. But it was my experience on the way down that I will hold in my heart for quite some time.

As we made our descent I felt a pull to my right and found an area that was shaded by trees and out of the way.

We settled in and began our meditation.

Once the body and mind are settled and at ease, with little to no thought, then the land speaks to you.

Power Place Tip: In order to feel the energies of any power place, one needs to get into a meditative state. If you are a regular meditator then this is a very natural process but if you just started out then becoming sensitive to the energies may be a little more difficult.

In my experience, I started to feel the energy from the earth rise into my body. Subtle vibrations of energy slowly started circulating through me and all around me. It was such a soft, graceful energy; quite different from the energy of Bell Rock from the previous day.

As I enjoyed this gentle energy I suddenly felt a rise of emotion course through me.

A heavy sob erupted from within me and I could feel tears rolling down my cheeks. I wasn’t sad. The energy was so subtle, so gentle, and so soft that it touched the very core of my being.

It felt as if I was being cradled, embraced, and enveloped in a very gentle, mother-like energy that was incredibly soft, nurturing, unconditional and forgiving.

Every fiber in my being felt this energy undulating through me. My heart felt like it could burst from the raw compassion being offered to me. It was so tender, warm, and infinite in it’s depth.

I remained in this energy state for quite some time simply enjoying being cradled, held, and loved.

Suddenly and without notice, I was given information about this sacred place.

I was shown that this place, Cathedral Rock, was like a ‘womb’ and those that are called to it find themselves wrapped in the gentle loving embrace of the feminine or motherly energy. I realized that whether consciously or unconsciously, all those that are called to visit Cathedral Rock are being called back into the womb; not of our mother but of creation itself.

This womb cradled me, rocked me, and gently whispered her wisdom to me. The emotional release felt cleansing, uplifting, and purifying.

After some time I knew that my journey was coming to an end. I asked, “Is there a message for me?” Immediately there was a response as if just waiting for me to simply ask:

“Dear One. Beauty. There is beauty everywhere; and not just in the obvious places.”

Just as this message came a small bird chirped a gorgeous silky trill right above my head on a branch above me.

The bird’s song was exquisite and pleasurable beyond words. I sunk into it like I’ve never sunk into a sound before. The very vibration entered me and I felt it as if I was it.

In that moment the overwhelming perfection of creation sent a shockwave through my being and I humbly realized that such divine ecstasy was given to me for FREE.

I didn’t have to do anything for it. It was always there, an unconditional love personified as nature’s perfection, always available, always present, always accesible.

I didn’t have to do anything to receive such beauty, such grace, such divine perfection. And yet, these everyday moments of nature’s divinity are everywhere, every moment.

The profoundness of such a realization was just overwhelming and I let out another sob from deep within my soul. Crying not of sadness but of deep appreciation, realization, and gratefulness to simply be alive.

At that moment, in an instant, I just knew the thousands about thousands of millennia it must have took for this simple creature to sing so effortlessly. I realized the complexity of creation, the perfection in the chaos, the magic in the mundane.

I was being reminded to never again look upon anything as ordinary. The Mother of Creation was reminding me that we are no simple happening.

Everything is a wonder; filled with infinite mysteries.

And such was the message from Cathedral Rock; womb to Mother Earth, Gaia, and Pachamama – beauty and perfection are everywhere.

What can one do with the realization of the perfection of creation?

I did the only thing I could do.

I raised my hands in namaskar mudra, a symbolic gesture of bowing down in reverence.

I gave thanks to everything that conspired for me to be here; to be alive, to exist, to be aware, and to appreciate all that I am and ever will be.

“May you unfold your being with folded hands.” – Sadhguru

Chocolatree in Sedona, AZ - Orbs

(After my meditation we stopped at the ‘Chocolatree‘ a nearby vegan restaurant where I took a shot of Guruji’s Grace a natural ayurvedic shot. When my husband tried to take my pic the camera refused to focus on me. Clearly I’ve attracted some higher beings in my aura that were riding the wave of bliss that Mother Gaia bestowed upon me. If you look closely, you can even see an eye in one of the orbs.)

My gratitude for this inner experience is beyond words and yet I attempted to put it into language for the benefit of my readers.

I am sharing this with you so that your heart may be stirred. So that you are aware that there is magic everywhere.

“Dear One. Beauty. There is beauty everywhere; and not just in the obvious places.”

Where in your life can you reconnect to the divine?

Your child’s laughter?

Your homecooked meal?

A reinvigorating shower?

The sunrise? Sunset?

Your favorite tree?

Your very breath?

Don’t discount the ordinary, mundane, or everyday experiences or things.

Within all of creation is beauty; infinite beauty, so says Mother Gaia. 🙂

With you in wholeness,

Elizabeth

Listening to Your Inner Wisdom

Inner Wisdom

If we all knew how to access the deep inner wisdom that we all have, then we wouldn’t have a need for doctors, therapists, or spiritual teachers.

This doesn’t mean that we have no need for outside assistance. We all had to learn our ABC’s and how to count. But when we are talking about body awareness, mental health, and spiritual growth, these all fall within the realm of inner knowing and intuition.

Our bodies are simply an extension of our mind. If you want to get an understanding of who someone is just take a look at the vehicle they are using. In most cases, the body reveals your past, your present, and can even predict your future if you pay close enough attention.

This reminds me of a quote that used to flash across the screen at my old gym, “What you eat in private is what we see in public.”

Similarly to the body, we can also sense, feel, and know anything we wish through our sensitivity to energy. Our aura is the unseen extension of us. Though we may think we are hiding certain aspects of ourselves, everything is accessible through the quality of our energetic aura.

This energy field cannot and does not lie. If one is sensitive enough you can simply feel the energy field around someone and know everything you need to know. Words are actually a very primitive mode of communication. They often confuse and complicate things. Energy on the other hand, is always crystal clear.

I mention all the above because whatever assistance we need, in whatever capacity, whether it be diet, mental health, or spiritual awakening; it is always accessible from within. We don’t need to seek what is already within us, from the outside.

Yet, because we don’t know how to access this inner wisdom we turn to doctors, therapists or spiritual teachers.

Connecting To Our Inner Wisdom

So, how do we strengthen the connection to our inner wisdom? What can we do? How do we do it?

Well, first you will need to be ok with being alone. Alone doesn’t translate to ‘lonely’. Alone simply means having no one else present.

Being alone with your mind, body, emotions, and energy is extremely enlightening. In order to know what you need to work on and what direction and guidance you need, you first need to understand what you’re working with.

When you are alone with yourself you pay attention to your physical body, thoughts, habits, and ways of reacting to things. We gain immense self-awareness through being alone as well as strengthen the connection to ourselves.

Being alone allows for deep reflection and contemplation. We can reflect on our behavior, our tendencies, the language we use and words we choose, the friends we keep, the relationships we form, the food we eat, the home we inhabit, the lifestyle we live.

Without this alone time and greater self-awareness, we are lead to believe that we are the product of unforeseen circumstances. There are many that have settled into the notion that our upbringing, parents, genetics, or environment are to blame.

However through being alone we can truly take the time to contemplate on how we arrived at exactly where we at in our lives. Through reflection and contemplation we can see that everything that has happened, occurred through moment-by-moment choices. Perhaps some more conscious than others.

Right now, we are living the consequences of each of these moment-by-moment choices

The paradox to living joyfully is accepting responsibility of your life and this is precisely the reason why so many people are unhappy and depressed. They refuse to take responsibility for their body, mind, emotions, and energetic state.

Being alone allows for deep reflection and contemplation. We courageously face all facets of our selves and we slowly integrate them. We become more self-aware. We mature, grow, and expand our consciousness.

Being alone and having the courage to self-reflect is all you need to strengthen your connection to your own innate inner wisdom. With consistent practice, your connection to your inner wisdom will be so strong that you will intuitively know what are the right foods for you to eat, what people are best to commune with, where to best focus your time, how to exercise the body, what skill to learn, what job to take, how best to execute a plan, and how to live your best life.

There is no cookie-cutter answer to create joy or wisdom. As everyone is different there are millions of ways to go about creating joy for oneself.

Do yourself a favor and spend some time alone today.
